Quick start: Your 5-minute financial calendar
Let's get your first automated calendar running. Actually, you will need only one minute for this one. A simple default calendar is already built in and just needs to be activated and imported into your calendar app.
Step 1: Create a secure calendar link
To let your calendar app (like Google Calendar, Outlook, or your calendar app on your iPhone) talk to apocha securely, you need a special private link.
- In the apocha app, navigate to Settings > Account.
- Click "Create new API Key". Apocha will generate a unique, secure API key for you. This API key is the private password for your apps to talk to apocha.
- Go to Settings > Calendar.
- Copy the URL at the top of the page. Think of this URL as a private link between your calendar app and apocha. Keep it safe!
Step 2: Setup your favorite calendar app
- Open your calendar app (Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, Outlook, etc.).
- Find the option to "Add Calendar from URL" or "Subscribe to Calendar". Or search the internet for "how to subscribe to external calendars in google (apple, outlook, ...) calendar"
- Paste the secure URL you copied from apocha in step 1 into your calendar app.
That's it! Within a few moments, your calendar will populate with all payments within the last and the next 12 months you have in apocha.
But you probably do not want to have all transactions in your calendar. Or you want all but with reminders for larger payments 3 days before they are due. The next steps of this guide will walk you through one of the most popular use cases.
Your Goal: Get a calendar for payments with amounts of $100 or more (because we do not want to have the $5 coffee in our calendar) with reminders for large payments of $500 or more 3 days before the due date.
Next, we'll tell apocha exactly what information to show in your calendar.
Step 3: Create a "Large payments" Smart Calendar
- Go to Settings > Calendar and click "New calendar".
- Name your calendar:
Large payments
. - Set the minimum total to
100
. - Click "Save".
Step 4: Set a Custom Alert
Now, let's create the reminder.
- Select the "Large payments" calendar you just created.
- Click the "New reminder" button.
- Name the reminder:
Check account balance
. - Set the timing to
3 days before
. - Set Min Amount to
500
- Customize the message to something like:
Heads up! Your {store} bill for {amount} is due in {days} days.
- Click "Save".
Congratulations! You've built your first smart calendar. This is your new default calendar. You do not have to update the URL in your calendar app.
